I Just Got Back From A Trip To Cuba! Part Five: Experiences

'I just got back from a trip to Cuba!' There has to be a few stories there, for sure!  Unfortunately sometimes stories get lost. Either we aren't sure how to tell them, we're not confident or we simply don't think people care. Truth is stories matter...A LOT!  In this five part series we're covering off some ideas for how to share those stories. Last time we identified how food can shape a story. We all have likes and dislikes, and therefore opinions in this area, so we need to keep it relatable.  Some key key take aways were:

#1 Draw a parallel/comparison to make it relatable 
#2 Look for humour (my partner who hates seafood was horrified as my shrimp looked at him the entire meal!) 
#3 Go for 'shock factor' but keep it positive (terrified of bees, I stuck my hand right in the hive...and, as the local farmer had said, not one sting.)

In today's episode we continue the Cuban journey.  When we visit new places we look for new experiences.  All too often we just skim over what we did. Maybe we don't think folks will want detail. It's been drilled down in our minds to keep it short. Truth is you can still keep it short, while giving the goods. Your audience needs enough information in order to relate to you, and build up that know, like and trust factor.

#1 Include the 5W's and 1H (When, Where, What, Who, Why & How) 
#2 Tap into emotion. How did this experience make you feel, and why?
#3 Ideally, make sure it's YOUR story so people can create more of the KL&T factor with YOU!
