Guy was last seen by his wife of 49 years, Arline, when he left their home on Aitchison Road in the village of Evans Mills. Guy took off at around 3pm on the afternoon of April 2nd, 1999, with the intention of visiting family based in Watertown, about seventy miles away. No one has seen him since.
This episode hears from Jennifer, Guy’s granddaughter. She illustrates how big a presence Guy was in her life and the impact his absence has had on both her and the wider Pyke family. In the months leading up to his disappearance, Guy had begun to exhibit symptoms of dementia. He would get confused and forget where he was, sometimes whilst out driving and had gone missing for several days on more than one occasion. Jennifer walks us through her grandfather’s last known movements, underlines the various theories put forward about what may have happened on that fateful day and brings us up to speed with her own decade long search for the truth.
