The lockdown announcement of March 2020 meant that online ministry was thrust to the foreground; suddenly the only way to engage in church services was online. This opening sermon in our ‘Get Together’ series acknowledges the benefits of digital but also highlights some of the theological deficiencies; as restrictions ease and rhythms of home, work and play are reset, a biblical case is made for physical church attendance where practically possible. Whilst online is OK and even biblically legitimate when approached with a posture of worship and full engagement, we discover three powerful biblical reasons why an embodied, in-person experience of church is even better.
