Anger Management 101
Anger is a dominant emotion, as it stems from our fundamental need for self-preservation. In the grip of anger, we lose control of rational judgment and cease to see the bigger picture or consider the consequences of our actions. There is a well-known saying, "What love builds, anger destroys."
Let us explore this further through one of the most severe accounts from our sages: "Moshe Rabeinu lost his wisdom and insight three times due to anger." Yes, the great prophet, the giver of the Torah, the man whom the Torah attests had unwavering vision until his last moments, temporarily lost his wisdom due to the emotion of anger. He even issued a misguided ruling and nearly caused a stumble for the entire nation. One of the three incidents of anger led to an unforgivable mistake that cost Moshe the right to enter the Promised Land.
