Continuing the thread of having energy and vitality in our every day lives, Tony expands onto the importance of cultivating healthy and sustainable energy, especially for those with disabilities. On today’s dojo, Tony walks us through how to achieve healthy nutrition with what we eat and put into our bodies.
The world health organization says that nutrition is attributable to nearly 95% of the chronic diseases that are the top causes of death. We make the decision every day, regarding what we choose to eat or not eat. The behaviors that are related to nutrition is very skill and education based. Tony shares some of the things that are important to know about nutrition and how it impacts people with disabilities, as it pertains to health outcomes and every day life. Nutrition is a factor that is attributed to being able to improve such things as our academic performance and our ability to focus. They’ve seen this in schools where they access the nutrition of students and the evidence is pointing towards the fact that when students and those in learning environments are eating healthy, the brain works more optimally. People’s productivity also tends to be connected to what they are eating and when they are eating, so these are very impactful factors to be considered for health, academic learning, work performance, and quality of life.
