THE TAKE 12 RECOVERY RADIO SHOW When we are Newcomers to the rooms of recovery, our experience can be less than settling, more unnerving than anything else. It doesn’t really matter what brought us to the rooms, the important thing now is that we are here. What are some of the things Old-Timers should be sensitive to when it comes to Newcomers? How can we help them to feel welcome, appreciated and not shamed? If the newcomer is truly the most important person in any meeting, why are they sometimes treated less than? What are some of the things newcomers may hear in a Twelve Step meeting that will encourage them to keep coming back? What are some of the things that may make them feel less than welcome?
