“CLICK to CANCEL” Rule Approved by FTC

A new FTC rule will make it much easier to cancel unwanted subscriptions and memberships.

If you have memberships or subscriptions you know it can be a real pain in the butt to cancel them- and their recurring charges- once and for all. 

In fact, it’s such a hassle many consumers are stuck paying for services they no longer use or want and in this economy, we can’t afford it. 

So I will give the Federal Trade Commission some credit for tackling the issue. 

The FTC finalized a proposal called “click to cancel” that requires companies to make it as simple to cancel a subscription as it was to sign up for it in the first place.

The rule also requires companies to ensure customers know and acknowledge what they are signing up for. The language must be clear and concise. 

This new rule will eliminate the endless hoops we have to jump through to get these unwanted money-sucks off our bank statements!

Companies that violate these new guidelines will be subject to redress and civil penalties. 

While I’m generally not a fan of government regulation , in this case I’m all for it!
