On today’s podcast we have the beautiful Dan Price. Dan is a passionate change maker, storyteller and educator in the mental health, suicide prevention and wellness space. He is a proud Ambassador for Movember and R U OK? Day. Fundraising for Movember and spreading awareness, Dan ran his first ultramarathon of 60km in 2019, 126.6km in 2020 and in 2021 created the Project 205, now also an Ambassador for Lululemon which we discuss deeply in this conversation.

What I personally love about this conversation is Dan’s powerful vulnerability and storytelling. I was so deeply captivated by Dan sharing his story of real hardship; the type of hardship that essentially lead him, in 2014, to standing on the edge of the Sydney Harbour Bridge wanting to take his own life. I have no doubt that most of us, if not all, have experienced some form of mental health challenge in our life, but there is certainly something so deep in the idea of, as Dan shares, being in this state that rationalising to yourself to no longer be here feels like the right thing to do. Dan’s story is really emotive, it moves you, both through having the opportunity to see yourself throughout his story, but to also have deep empathy; one human to another. As a friend of Dan’s, I’ve always seen him as a phoenix rising from the ashes. The way in which he has re-centred himself, how he has learnt to love himself and as a byproduct of this, how he has learnt to forgive himself. A masterful suicide prevention and mental health speaker and Ambassador, he is truly saving people’s lives through sharing his story.
