Literacy Here and Abroad (Aired July 3, 2009)

Helen LiMarizi, Rotary District 7210’s Literacy Chair and Director of Literacy Connections for Putnam County, discusses interesting – and sometimes surprising — information about literacy here and around the world. Ms. LiMarizi describes Rotary’s emphasis on basic literacy as a pre-condition to the prevention of poverty and the development of peace. The majority of Rotary clubs around the world include a literacy component as part of their humanitarian efforts.
