Will Burnham Outlast Starmer?

Andy Burnham - the 'King of the North' - has finally become Prime Minister, Britain's seventh in just a decade. In his first speech as PM, the former Greater Manchester mayor promised his government would be a 'circuit breaker', a departure from years of political chaos and economic decline.

Yet Burnham governs without a mandate, an anxious bond market is breathing down his neck, and his Cabinet is full of familiar faces. He's vowing to make big political changes, but his policy platform - reindustrialisation and devolution - harks back to the 1970s.
