In 1969, he invented self-monitoring of blood glucose, revolutionizing the way patients could manage their condition. He further changed the game in 1970, inventing the basal/bolus insulin dosing technique, providing a more efficient approach to diabetes management.
Since 1971, he has followed a low carbohydrate diet, proving that careful nutrition management can play a key role in controlling diabetes. Beyond his own personal practice, Dr. Bernstein has been an active advocate and educator, having penned the authoritative guide, "Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution".
