James 1:1
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes in the Dispersion: Greetings.
· One of the most compelling aspects of the nature and character of God is that in the midst of His immensity, He is dialed into us personally.
Luke 12:7
Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.
Psalms 139:16
Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
Psalms 16:11
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
What is God after, what is God trying to do, what is God going to accomplish?
How does God lead us into full and meaningful life?
1. The way God leads us into the fullest possible life is by revealing to us who He is.
2. The way God leads us into the fullest possible life is by making known to us the path of life.
3. Who was James?
James wrote the Book of James.
James is the half-brother of Jesus.
James did not believe that Jesus was the incarnate Christ during the three years of Jesus’ earthly ministry.
James refers to himself as a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Book of James is one of the earliest New Testament manuscripts in our canon of scripture.
What do we see in the Book of James?
Suffering never surprises God. He never promises that we will not suffer, but rather that He will be with us in our suffering, and He will redeem it.
God is about progress, not perfection. Where there is faith, there is movement forward.
The constant pull of the world is that riches and comfort will satisfy, and that pull is always a lie.
