Garrett Crochet = ACE!: Garrett Crochet pitching for the 1st time since agreeing to his new contract extension with the Red Sox was outstanding Wednesday night. Crochet worked 8 scoreless innings. He gave up 4 singles, walked 1 and struck out 8. Crochet gave up a leadoff single in the Bottom of the 8th but got an inning-ending double play to finish up his night. Chapman gave up a walk but managed a scoreless 9th to preserve the shutout.

Devers Update: Rafael Devers was retired in his 1st 2 at-bats of the night but broke an 0-for-21 to start the season with a 2-out, RBI Double in the 5th to give the Red Sox a 3-0 lead. Devers with his 1st hit & extra-base hit of the season & his 2nd RBI. Devers also reached with a single in the Top of the 8th.
