What is money? How about currency? What facilitates exchange? What makes a market? How do we store value over time? These are but a few of the philosophical inquiries friend of the show Jonathan Glowacki and I dive into in this far-ranging and free-flowing Saunacast conversation.

After tackling these broader themes, we zoom into the modern era and discuss the  benefits, as well as address certain misconceptions and oft-cited potential drawbacks to cryptocurrency generally and Bitcoin specifically. Bitcoin is digital money, but it's not a Central Bank-backed Digital Currency (CBDC). It's backed by energy, but does it really use too much power?

Are green frog skin dollar bills backed by rainbows and sunshine? Nope: they're backed by blood. Would you rather use a soft (freely printed) inflationary money backed by the war machine or a hard (scarce + immutable) money backed by a software protocol and energy? 

Hope this chat serves to crack open some minds and shake up some preconceptions. This is certainly not financial advice, but as a DIY researcher I've found it fascinating to decrypt the intentionally and artificially opaque and convoluted universe of money, markets and finance.
