Liat Beinin Atzili was kidnapped on October 7 and spent more than 50 days in a Gazan home, But her story of captivity doesn’t fit neatly into the hostage mold. The villains aren’t so villainous. In fact, her experience forced her to directly reckon, for the first time in her life, with the humanity of people living on the other side of the fence.
