April 8th Solar Eclipse: What Is Going On Here?

A total solar eclipse is hitting much of North America on April 8th. There are lots of theories out there surrounding this event. Sign from God, a New Age ending and beginning, an unleashing of massive earthquakes etc.?

Why are schools closing for the day, the National Guard being called upon and why do we need to stock up on food, gas and medicine?
