Paul Thagard - Substrate-Independent Minds

Dr. Paul Thagard is a philosopher, cognitive scientist, and author of many interdisciplinary books. He currently teaches as a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the University of Waterloo, where he founded and directed the Cognitive Science Program. Dr. Thagard is a graduate of the Universities of Saskatchewan, Cambridge, Toronto (with a PhD in philosophy) and Michigan (with an MS in computer science). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Cognitive Science Society, and the Association for Psychological Science. The Canada Council awarded him a Molson Prize in 2007 and a Killam Prize in 2013.
