Silver Spoons: S5E12: Edward Creates A Monster and S5E13: Rumors Are Flying

Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast. Today I covered, S5E12: Edwards Creates A Monster, which aired on January 26, 1987. In this episode after going out to a comedy club as a reward for his success in school, Rick is invited to join a comedy class. But his homework is no joke, since he's cutting up in class as well as at home, and thinking of foregoing college. Rick's attempts at training to become a stand up comedian are just plain laughably BAD! and S5E13: Rumors Are Flying, which aired on February 2, 1987. In this episode Rick has a girl from school over to study, but they fall asleep in his room. After she gets grounded, Rick allows rumors to spread about what happened in their late study session. To be 100% honest these two episodes were just ok for me and didn't feel like anything great. I was looking forward to Rumors Are Flying because I was hoping Edward would tell Rick about how important it is to respect women and not treat them as objects, (two good tv episode examples, The Wonder Years Season 6 White Lies and Boy Meets World Season 2 Wake Up Little Cory)but Edward never learns of the rumor Rick spread at Burgers that got all around school of Rick and this girl losing their V-card together even though he was the one to walk in on them asleep on his bed. In this episode when Brad's father goes out of town for a few days, Rick invites him to stay with the Strattons despite Edward's misgivings. But after Brad creates constant chaos in the house, even Rick finds it difficult to defend him. and S5E15: Band On The Run, which aired on February 16, 1987. In this episode Alfonso quits Rick's band when they refuse to take his girlfriend's suggestions.
