The Second World War was the greatest catastrophe in human history. Sixty million people dead. Entire nations destroyed. All sides engaged in the wholesale slaughter of enemy civilian populations. And the nuclear demon unleashed upon the world. It was the war in which the United States and our allies conquered the world, and eighty years after Germany's defeat, the story of the war remains our civilization's most important load-bearing myth. Myths are stories told by the winners to legitimize their victory, but in real history the losers have their own story to tell. This series will explore the deep history of the Second World War through the eyes of the Enemy.
You guys probably thought I abandoned you, but I was just buried my office trying to get this right. This series is planned for seven or eight episodes, but God’s Socialist was only supposed to be four episodes, so we’ll see how things go. Either way, this is going to be a long, deep Martyr Made history series. As with my other series, I made this prologue to set the scene.
I know I owe you guys the audio version of the previous installment of The Peculiar Institution, and now that I’m done with this, I will knock that out. To those of you who were looking forward to the next installment of Whose America?, don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about you. Events outside my control forced me to push this series to the top of the queue, but fortunately Whose America? is an anthology, rather than a linear series, so there’s no harm in doing the remaining episodes as one-offs.
