Daily Devotions: How to Make a Pastor Happy - October 1, 2025

Scripture for Today: Philippians 2:1–4 (ESV) – “So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

In today’s Daily Devotions with Pastor David Sumrall, we see Paul’s heartfelt answer to a question many ask: “How can we make our pastor happy?” His response is simple—love one another, walk in unity, and work together with one mind and purpose. Just as parents rejoice when their children stop quarreling and live in harmony, pastors find joy when God’s people live with humility, care for one another, and put others’ needs before their own.

This reminder is for all of us today: true joy comes when believers set aside selfishness, serve each other, and live together in the love of Christ.
