Ep.12 Guy Sengstock-Lifting the Veil: Deep World Listening & Breaking Free of Traumatic Perception

I catch up with Philosopher-Sage Guy Sengstock for a broad enquiry into what it means to listen deeply to world. We discuss Carl Jung’s unconscious and psychedelic reality. Building on this we consider the very different ways in which texts reveal themselves and what it means for our reading to be guided by intuition. We enter the mystifying territory of what it means to listen deeply to world and logos, what is the 'veil' and what calls forth the salience that guides and shapes our lives.

In the second half we explore the mechanisms by which trauma shapes our perception and calls forth re-enactment of patterns in our lives. Introducing ideas from my enquiry into the ‘landscape of trauma’ we talk about what trauma reveals about the fundamentals of temporality and how loving relationships can break us free of traumatic cycles.

Guy Sengstock is a founder of an authentic relational practice called Circling which is practiced worldwide and perhaps best described as a "yoga of deep transformational conversations". Guy has facilitated circling for decades and instructs through the circling institute.
