What he really wanted was a place far from the city where no one would hear what he did to the boys he brought there. Over the next few years, Northcott lured young victims to the property with the help of his teenage nephew, who he had taken from Canada under the guise of teaching him the family trade. Behind the chicken coops, he built one of the most disturbing crime scenes in California history. In Part 1 of Murder: True Crime Stories, host Carter Roy traces Northcott's path from a deeply troubled childhood in a household ruled by his mother's obsession and his father's silence to the desolate stretch of desert where his violence would soon spiral out of control.
