Mosaic: The Heart - Sermon

Jesus accomplished so much on the cross that some things we may have forgotten or don't even realize. In this new series we hope to piece together different aspects of what Jesus did on the cross to help give us a more full picture of how meaningful it truly was. Sort of like a mosaic. One thing you probably hear most about the cross is that Jesus took our place. You may think that no one has ever threatened to put you on a cross, so how is that possible? The reality is that because God chose to partner with humans to create goodness and peace in this world we have a responsibility to God for his creation. Unfortunately we just don't hold up our end of the deal. Every one of us add to the evil and destruction of this world through our own sin and because of that we deserve to die. Jesus however was perfect and didn't deserve to die. So although you may never have been at risk to be crucified, Jesus did die the death you deserved so that you could experience true life in him. But this is just one part of the picture of the cross.
