What on earth is a Parkrun ...
It´s a huge global movement and although it initially started in the UK with 13 friends meeting up for a Saturday run followed up by coffee and tea, it has grown to over 2000 locations in 23 countries around the world.
Yes, it´s BIG, it´s for EVERYONE and it´s FREE. And no, Parkrun doesn’t exist in Spain.

Today’s Guest:
Simon Jones retired in June 2019 and he now works part-time for a local charity. He has been running Parkruns since 2013 and has accumulated over 249 parkruns and 52 volunteer days.
Simon wrote a book about Parkrun (Could Have Happend at Parkrun, Olympia publishers, 2021).
Could have happened at Parkrun is a book of 12 short stories (84 pages) written during Covid lockdown when parkruns were cancelled.
The uniting theme is the Wycombe Rye Parkrun, in Wycombe High, the South East of England. And if you want to know more about Parkrun from an insider point of view, then this is the perfect read.
It´s enjoyable, entertaining, lighthearted and suitable for an intermediate level of English. 😊
What We Talk About
* Why doctors in the UK prescribe Parkrun
* Confusing placename pronunciations (Wycombe, Longborough, Leicestershire etc). Native speakers of English also have no idea how to pronounce those names correctly when they see them for the first time.
* South East England, Wycombe High, Wycombe Rye Park and the Chiltern area
* Why Parkrun is one of the most inclusive global running communities in the world
* The importance of volunteering and the different volunteer roles at Parkrun
* Why the Parkrun web page is a delight for people who love stats
* Our favourite stories from Could have happened at Parkrun
