Jordy Williams was politely asked to leave Medieval Times & not return. As we walked thru the parking lot, he finally broke the silence by asking if we'd been banned from all Medieval Times in the country or just the Schaumburg location? I shrugged, suddenly wondering what he meant be "we"? Hell, I'm the one who got him out of there w/o incident after he tried to take on the Green Knight from the stands, brandishing a silver spork set he'd snuck in during admission. If anything, I think I deserved a gift certificate for my trouble. He immediately wrote them all off, convinced they'd all likely die in an arena-wide disaster of epic proportions, and he'd just as soon miss that party. We spent the tandem-bike ride back to Chicago talking about the 2000 duel w/ death teen horror that kicked off a whole new subgenre & 6 film franchise- Final Destination. Get your airport luggage & bring your John Denver record cuz these teens are assholes who don't go to school & have nothing in common except their asinine niche horror reference last names. We discuss the nostalgia that still colors the movie's release, dig into the focus group nightmare that was this film's development, rewrite whole sections that we wish were done better, and do our best to remember what happens in the next 5 installments cuz fuck knows we won't be covering them on this show! Regardless of our complicated feelings about the flick, we absolutely take time to honor the great & powerful Tony Todd. We can't be sure about the franchise as a whole, but one thing we can say definitively- In Todd We Trust.
