A recent article by Dr. Chelsea Turgeon in KevinMD highlighted learned helplessness as a major harmful side effect of our training. We were trained to tune out the needs of our bodies and minds during medical school and residency, and we get so good at tuning ourselves out that we keep doing it; often until we can't anymore.
