We begin by exploring the ways in which the dynamics of marriage within the church have evolved—or, in some cases, failed to evolve—with the changing societal landscape. I discuss the concern that the church, in an effort to uphold traditional values, sometimes resorts to using faith as a lever to press men towards marriage, without fully addressing the complexities and challenges of modern relationships and the shifting societal norms that surround them.
Central to our conversation is the critical examination of how tactics reminiscent of those used by some feminist movements—characterized by subtle manipulation and selective presentation of truths—are being mirrored in religious contexts to nudge men towards commitments they might not be fully prepared for or in agreement with.
