Gillingham 0-2 Newport County: A fifth straight defeat for the Gills

Gillingham’s poor run of form shows no sign of abating after the Gills crashed to another hugely disappointing defeat, this time at home, as they lost 2-0 to Newport County.

A shocking opening 45 minutes saw the Gills concede twice and, while the level of effort certainly increased in the second half, the quality in the final third didn’t, as the Gills knocked on the door, but didn’t have the finishing ability needed to find the net.

It all added up to another frustrating Gills performance and one that left some fans questioning the direction the club is currently heading in.
