On Mother’s Day 2008, Barbara Freiberg was looking forward to receiving a call from her daughter, Lisa. Lisa was a mom herself—she had a son, Zachary, 7, and 2-year-old Heather Savannah—and Mother’s Day was always a special day for Lisa and Barbara.
