Chip In

Nehemiah was a builder. He was born into captivity, had never seen Jerusalem, had never seen Israel as an empire nation, had never seen his people free. But he had a promise. A promise that had passed down from the those who heard Jeremiah proclaim that one day God would restore Israel, its people, and Jerusalem would one day be a place of thriving again. Nehemiah believed those promises would be made manifest in his lifetime. And he devoted his life to be an instrument of God to that end. Will you? Jesus came to build His church! Jesus promised the Holy Spirit! Jesus promised to set the captives free! Jesus promised…! Will you be a Nehemiah in your generation? I am asking people through this series to come build with me, here at City Life Church. Those who call City Life Church home, let’s build together. May our zeal and passion for the promises of Jesus mirror that of Nehemiah! And as you will see tonight, one of the ways Nehemiah was builder is that he was willing to chip in. As the governor of Jerusalem, he was afforded a comfortable lifestyle and yet he chose to use those resources not to live extravagantly but rather to build toward the promises of God. Each of us is given a measure of resources. We can either consume them all for own enjoyment or we can head Nehemiah’s example by yielding ourselves to the wisdom and instruction of Scripture and recognize that a portion of the resources entrusted to us by God are to be invested into a Kingdom purpose. And whatever church you call home is most certainly part of your Kingdom purpose! So come build with me…Chip In!
