The NFL product is bad — real bad. In Week 6 of the season, half of the league scored 17 points or fewer. So far in 2023, teams are averaging the fewest number of touchdowns per game in nearly two decades, and teams are on track to average more field goals than at any other time in the history of the NFL. Jason likens the league's downward spiral to that of energy giant Enron and credits much of its decline to commissioner Roger Goodell, who, like the top executives at Enron, believes he’s the smartest guy in the room. “This is Enron 2.0. It's a bad product camouflaged by the social media matrix and corporate media influencers more concerned with maintaining access than objectively evaluating the league.” We’ve sacrificed great play for great pay and players who care more about building their own brands than building a championship team. The problem is only going to get worse. College quarterbacks are now earning millions of dollars through name, image, and likeness deals. You can secure a six-figure deal before you play a college game. The entitlement and bratty attitudes of the players are major turnoffs. Case in point, Deion Sanders’ Colorado team’s complete collapse against a hapless Stanford squad. Coach Prime’s postgame press conference only worked to highlight the issues Jason sees in Deion and the game of football.
