When Moira Forbes decided to join the family business, she knew she’d have to work hard to prove herself. The only one of five sisters to join Forbes Media, Moira learned over time that her efforts were better spent pioneering new branches of the company than worrying about what other people thought of her.

Moira started ForbesWomen in 2006 to highlight women in business, as well as generate inspiration and camaraderie among women working in what is still predominantly a world that favors men. To take it a step further, she started the annual Forbes Power Women’s Summit.
