Piggsburg Pigs (Ruby-Spears, 1990)

We turn once more to Fox Kids, the legendary Saturday morning programming block that gave us Bobby's World, X-Men, Eek the Cat, the Tick, and... this show. Piggsburg Pigs, created by Fred Silverman's daughter Melissa and produced by Ruby-Spears, feels like the last gasps of the 70s and 80s style of Saturday morning fare before the revolutionary creator-driven works that would define the decade took over the zeitgeist. These pigs only made it one year before hitting the butcher's block, and we're going to look at why it might have been a mercy killing!
