Sarah Aroeste & Susan Barocas – “Savor” Ladino Cooking and Music!

Sarah Aroeste and Chef Susan Barocas bring together food and music to create a multi-media cultural project celebrating Sephardic/Ladino food and music. The project, Savor, honors the women who carried these traditional recipes and songs forward, through the Spanish Inquisition, through the Holocaust, through centuries of diaspora and oppression, to the present.

Created during the pandemic lockdown, Savor brings together generations of women preparing these traditional dishes, with traditional songs about the food.  The whole project offers us a menu of deliciousness for our taste buds and our ears.

Susan and Sarah join Baruch to discuss the project’s many layers of meaning.  This is very fun and informative, and will inspire you to try your hand at these recipes!
