I could surmise that what my parents meant was to be committed to all you do. That’s not what I heard, and indeed, being committed to something, my perfectionism, my resistance to making mistakes send off bells and whistles. I thought my resistance to commitment was from another belief, a belief that I am not enough, and as Beth Bishop, my guest speaker, and I started to unpack that belief, we uncovered this thread of perfectionism.
