Dealing with grief is never easy, but when you are able to see the gratitude that underlies it all, it becomes more manageable. We’ve had a really rough few days because Champ has now been reunified with his mom, but it was nothing like what we thought it would be.
Rather than being given some notice, we dropped Champ off with his mother and found out later that day that the paperwork was approved for him to stay permanently with her. While this is amazing news, it means that we didn’t really have time to say goodbye the way we wanted to.
Having never lost a really close loved one before, I’ve been experiencing some emotions that I’ve never felt. It has been very difficult to say the least and sometimes I’m overcome by a wave of emotions so strong that it knocks me back. I’ve been working really hard to let others in and allow them to tend to me, but even that has been hard.
I know that I’m not the only one who is going through something like this right now, which is why we wanted to share it on the podcast. I’m sharing my heart and what has been helping me to cope with this loss while still acknowledging all of the blessings that Champ has brought to our lives.
Listen in to hear it all. If you’re going through a similar struggle, let us know about it. We’d love to lift you up as you process your own grief.
