VP#113: Wicked Curious! Spiritual Mentor Karen Kenney on the Brutal Murder that Changed Everything, Connecting the Dots to Animal Suffering, and the Choice to Live in Love

As they say, we can't choose what happens to us; we can only choose how we respond. Often it comes down to a choice between victimhood and empowerment - and Karen Kenney chose the latter. After her mother's brutal murder, Karen would have had every justification in the world for considering herself a helpless victim. Instead, she turned her energy to helping the beings that don't get to make any choices over their own existence - the animals in our so-called "food" system, medical labs, and beyond.

In this week's episode I got to chat with Karen, who, I learned, has some uncanny things in common with the protagonist of my novel Marrying Myself, Julia Jones. They lived in Boston and went to Boston University, they're both vegan, and they both tragically lost their mothers at an early age. Clearly, Karen and I are cosmically connected!
