For this episode I interview Greta Riondato , Handel Callender, and Theresa Kretsch , the three artist-coordinators of the Two Rivers Art Camp! The art camp is a one-week camp for children ages 8-14, and is being offered twice, the first two weeks in July - July 3-7th, and July 10-14th. Both weeks will happen at Tytler Public School and the Huron Community Garden in the Ward.
Handel arrived to Canada from Barbados ten years ago, Greta from Italy five years ago, and Theresa from Germany at the beginning of this year. We connected to speak about the motivation behind this camp, what they're hoping to explore, and how their respective relationships with Guelph, and community as has been shaped by their artistic paths as immigrants. Thank you so much to the three of them for taking the time to be interviewed!
More about the camp:
The Two Rivers Art Summer Camp offers a chance to explore creativity through diverse art projects centred around local sustainability and community. By engaging in hands-on activities, participants will discover innovative ways to communicate positive ideas, inspiring hope for Guelph’s Future. At the end of the program, the campers’ artworks will be exhibited in an event titled “We are all related”
