Is Tantra A Rapid Path To Self - Realization

The question answered in this discourse was - Is Tantra really a path to rapid self-realization? Om Swami says to understand this, we need to first agree on the definition of self-realization. Self Realization is a state where you express oneness with the whole creation. You don't have feelings of hatred, all you have is boundless freedom and love. When people wear ocher robes, it is usually with the belief that now, we are free. Ocher is the color of fire and freedom, that one is no longer tied to the conventional way of doing things. But, the opposite happens. You get increasingly clamped down by society and their expectations from you. There were people who realized that social norms are a big farce. Tantra says what if I had the courage to break every rule that society has given me, what would my life be then? Tantra says let's being with all that the world says is wrong, it takes courage and is not easy. Usually, it is in order of progression, when someone is initiated into tantra they will start with Dakhsinashar - with the purest form. Then, if their guru is a tantric guru, he or she will observe what are the hurdles on the path and how they can break it by giving them the appropriate sadhana. It is a rapid path because the conditioning is so strong on what is right and what is wrong, that we think we know how to get to God. Tantra questions what is the need to suppress desires and instead why doesn't one walk through them as opposed to run away from them.
