Strongest earthquake in years strikes San Francisco

The strongest quake the San Francisco Bay Area has seen in eight years happened yesterday on the Calaveras Fault, a branch of the San Andreas fault. Earthquakes do not create faults in the earth—they reveal them. This fact applies to more than geology, as even a cursory glance at the day’s news tells us. Where are the fault lines in our culture?
