British under pressure to invoke Article 50 – Hayes

The Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes says he understands pressure is being put on the British government to invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty to trigger British withdrawal from the EU. The Dublin MEP was speaking in the European Parliament in Strasbourg where Brexit has dominated debates this week. Mr Hayes says the EU want the British to trigger exit negotiations once the new leader of the Tory party is decided which is likely to be sometime in September.
