Regan Jones, Registered Dietician and Culinary Nutritionist with Cabot Creamery Cooperative joins eHealth Radio and the Health News and Nutrition Channels to share less stress family meal planning.
Listen to interview with host Eric Michaels & guest Regan Jones discuss the following:
When you believe in taste-first, it's clear to see why you'd be involved in the dairy world. After all, food experts around the globe know that great taste begins in the dairy case, right? And more to the point, Registered Dietitian Regan Jones learned early on in her career that great taste doesn’t have to mean foods that are bad for you. On the contrary, Regan has spent years seeking out foods and recipes that are healthy, nutritious and, equally important, taste great.
Regan’s passion for cooking has translated into a profession of culinary-based nutrition pursuits: first in the test kitchen for Oxmoor House, and then as an Assistant Food Editor at Weight Watchers and Cooking Light magazines. Through her experiences as an Assistant Food Editor, Regan became increasingly involved and passionate about communicating trustworthy nutrition guidance to the public through the media - hence her pursuit as the Nutrition Communications Director at the Southeast Dairy Association from 2001 to 2005, and her former role as national spokesperson for the National Dairy Council.
Today, Regan serves as a food and nutrition consultant to Cabot Creamery Cooperative, the farm-family owned cooperative best-known as “Makers of The World’s Best Cheddar.” As a wife and mother, Regan knows just how important it is to make sure her family makes healthy food choices. She is aware that it is not always easy to ignore deep-fried or sugar laden snacks, but she also knows that learning as much as possible about the importance of a sustained, healthy diet is a goal worth striving for. That is one lesson she learned early on in her career, and as Cabot’s Health Squad Champion, one that she wishes to share with as many people as possible.
“I learned to cook at a very early age hanging onto the apron strings of my grandmother, a sweet southern lady who cooked every meal that made it to her table, from sun up to sun down in her tiny little kitchen, all from scratch,” says Regan. “She was the best cook I've ever known, and truly inspired my taste for all things good and good for you.
