MESSAGE SUMMARY: Temptation is not sin; but yielding to temptation results in your sin. In Jesus' temptation, He has shown us how to face our temptations. When Jesus was tempted, He quoted Scripture; the most powerful weapon that God has given us – as Paul directed us in Ephesians 6:17-18: "In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God . . .”. Also, Paul, in 1 Corinthians 10:13, tells us that, like Jesus, all humans are tempted to sin; but, also like Jesus, God will not let us be tempted beyond our capability to respond to the temptation in sin: “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.".
