Bill continues the discussion of hunger looking at this week's Lectionary passages. We see in 1 Kings an exhausted Elijah who has no idea what he needs, and the Lord provides food and water for his journey ahead. In Psalms, we read the words of David, writing about tasting and seeing that the Lord is good after the priest provides him with loaves of the bread of the presence. In the Gospel passage from John 6, we read about the Bread of Life that came down from heaven in the person of Jesus and the invitation to imitate the life of Christ. And in Ephesians, we read about what a life in Christ looks like which invites us to continually partake in the Bread of Life to fill, sustain and satiate us. 1 Kings 19:4-8; Psalm 34:1-8; John 6:41-51; Ephesians 4:25-32.
