Growing up in the South in Carver Homes (affectionately known as the Bricks), one of Atlanta's largest housing projects, I didn't know I was poor. Simple summertime joys like picnics, catching lightning bugs, and outdoor games like 1-2-3 redlight made my childhood memorable.
