On this episode:
I grew up poor and in abuse and I was holding so much anger inside of me
There came a moment when I was jealous of someone else and at that moment I asked myself why not me in a completely different context and it changed my life.
Elizabeth’s Gilbert book - Eat Pray Love / Big Magic and books from Brene Brown shifted the way I saw the world.
Oprah - Super Soul inspires me
I used to be embarrassed about my past
Releasing anger was an important part of my journey - Imagine well of water - we are all filled with love, kindness - we get to give from overflow to others
I love meditation to release emotions
I don’t try to stop thinking when meditating I simply change what am I thinking
Ask what would your future self do
The best advice I got was from my grandma - Don’t water yourself down for others - as she was always making homemade sweet tea
The One thing she wants people to know about her:
I am someone who always tries to do her best
Daily Rituals:
Dress up for how I want to feel
Last thing that’s on my heart:
Own who you are - ask yourself who do you want to show up as?
Lindsay Adkinson grew up surrounded by drugs, alcohol and abuse. Her mental health was always unstable and she fell into a deep depression and lashed out by stealing and treating people and herself poorly. Unable to afford college, she dropped out and worked odd jobs to try and save to move out of her hometown. When Lindsay was 21, she was living in a tiny trailer when she heard of a lottery going on in Atlanta, GA. When she entered and won, she took that as a sign from the Universe and made a new life for herself. She now lives in Los Angeles as a full time YouTuber and is currently writing a memoir.
