Joel Carpenter is an American poet and singer songwriter based in New England. He was born in 1992 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, then raised in Portland, Maine, from the age of two. Carpenter is the founder of the Underground Writers Association, an independent publishing house with a mission to bring bold book projects from emerging writers to market. Carpenter is also known for his daring dog rescue in 2015, adopting his dog Sadie 1500 miles from home, and making national news.
