In our first dialogue I ask Tim all about Zen Buddhism – where it came from, what distinguishes it from other forms of spirituality and how it's been interpreted in the West. We look at Zen as not being one thing so much as being 'chalk and cheese' to itself, containing authoritarian teachings as well as iconoclastic rebels.
