What it will be like in the great tribulation?

The prophet Amos tells us this:  Amos 5:18-20  Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.

19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
 

After Jesus opens the 7th seal on the book in Rev. 8, seven angels were given trumpets, and when each of these angels sounded their trumpet, a "woe" was loosed upon this earth.

 

Rev. 8:6-7   And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

 

14 plagues from God are loosed upon this earth during the great tribulation.  (Rev. 8, 9, 16)

 

 

Mt. 24:29-31  Jesus says:  Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.  31 And HE shall send HIS angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together HIS elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
