Director William Eubank has confirmed that it's everyone's favorite R'lyeh resident who makes an appearance at the film's end, but has the film earned that? Do token references to Lovecraft's most famous creation necessarily make the film Lovecraftian or is this the "Dumbledore is gay despite any supporting evidence" of horror films? Jim and James are at least in agreement that the ocean depths are terrifying, that we need more original genre properties in theaters, and that the film's real villain is TJ Miller.
